Job Description

A rapidly growing construction company based in Jacksonville is seeking a Assistant  Project Manager to support their commercial construction projects. This company has a mission to provide the highest level of quality in their work, act with integrity in all they do, and empower their employees to adjust as the job requires. This is an opportunity work in a growing mid-sized company that still has the values of a small family owned business. The bulk of their work is commercial construction including ground up convenience store builds for a parent company as well as variety of other commercial projects. This is a great opportunity for someone recently graduated with an Engineering, Building Construction, or similar degree, someone growing in the industry from a Project Engineer role, or an APM looking for a change.

Responsibilities :

  • Review plans, specifications, submittals and other contract documents to create a job plan for the successful completion of assigned projects.
  • Schedule and supervise all installation, fabrication and start-up labor on assigned projects.
  • Perform job cost tracking and forecasting for final project costs.
  • Procurement of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Control job cost, closely monitoring necessary tasks.
  • Maintain a professional rapport with architects, engineers, building owners, installers and suppliers.
  • Attend necessary job meetings.
  • Assures that contractual obligations have been met and that all close-out documents are submitted.
  • Adhere to Safety Best Practices

Requirements :

  • 2+ years of experience working directly in the Commercial construction industry or formal education in engineering or building construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from accredited university or college, or equivalent years of experience and/or credentials is preferred 
  • Proficiency with Project Management Software and Takeoffs is a nice to have
  • Ability to read and interpret Construction Documents, Plans and Specifications
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral)
  • Must have supervisory skills to plan, direct, organize, and control the activities of others with limited supervision
  • Decisive individual with a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good organization skills a must
